The Weekend of Sept. 19th there were three cars shows in the Prescott-Cottonwood, Sedona area. We took the little Z3 up the mountains from Tucson to Cottonwood/Jerome on Friday to do some research at the Jerome Historical Society. Kudos to Pamela and Jay for assisting us in trying to find a historical needle in a haystack.
After a night of plugging the coldest slots in Arizona at Bucky’s Casino we made the Corvette Show Sat AM in Prescott, early and enjoyed it. But every Corvette after about 1976 looks the same to me. We cruised the many antique shops near the town square, had a great lunch at the Gurley Street Grill and headed to Sedona for a car show there, missed our turn to Sedona off 89 onto 89A, I guess the folks in Sedona are not too interested on having the red neck crowd from Prescott finding their way to Sedona or they would at least have a sign near the 89 and 89A turnoff indicating that Sedona is just beyond Cottonwood.
So we got to the car show just before 2PM and the show was over. I quess they needed to wrap it to get home in time for the wine and brie happy hour at 3PM.
Not to despair we looked at the grossly overpriced crafts and jewelry and headed to Old Town Cottonwood.
Aaaah, my kind of people at last. Lisa greeted us and we made a donation to the Old Jail Restoration Fund and parked the Z3 on the street just as a huge rain storm hit. Not to despair again, we were a quick run from Cactus Kate’s bar where we got a window seat and great view of our fellow car nuts scampering for cover, photos at Cottonwood Cowboy Cruiz-in. Sorry for the rain but the shop keepers were taking it all in stride and we did some shopping encountering a fascinating shop keeper, Jennifer McDonald at Pappilon who offered us a sip of wine and some cookies and we thoroughly enjoyed a much too brief visit with her in her wonderful shop. A nice lady!
